About — Tae Ho Guak, MD (곽태호), Neurologist

About HeadacheFree.Doctor

Every article on this site is written and medically reviewed by a practicing, board-certified neurologist. There is a great deal of headache information online, and much of it is wrong. This site exists to give you the same answers a headache specialist would give you in the clinic.

(Korean)

영문명 Tae Ho Guak으로 아마존에서 『The God Neuroscience Found』(『뇌과학이 찾은 신』), 『The Brain Turned Toward God: Into the Deep』(『신 앞에 선 뇌』), 그리고 성인 묵상 시리즈 『God, the Saints, and Me』(『하느님, 성인, 그리고 나』, 전 7권)를 출간했다.

Why this site exists

In a typical outpatient visit, a headache patient gets ten minutes. That is rarely enough to explain why the headache happens, why one drug was chosen over another, or which symptoms are genuinely dangerous. Patients then search online and find advice that is outdated, oversimplified, or simply incorrect — that headaches come from “forward head posture,” that all severe headaches mean a tumor, that taking more painkillers is the answer.

HeadacheFree.Doctor is the long version of that ten-minute visit. Each article addresses one real question that patients ask in the exam room, answered the way a specialist would answer it — including the parts that are uncertain.

How the content is made

  • Written from clinical practice. Topics come from questions patients actually ask.
  • Anchored to guidelines. Diagnostic criteria follow the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3). Treatment guidance follows current American Headache Society and equivalent international guidance.
  • Reviewed before publication. Every article is reviewed by Dr. Guak for medical accuracy before it goes live.
  • Corrected when needed. If evidence changes or an error is found, the article is updated and the review date changes.

Our full standards are described in the Editorial Policy.

What this site is not

This site provides medical information, not medical care. Reading an article does not create a doctor–patient relationship, and nothing here replaces an in-person evaluation. If you have a sudden, severe, or unfamiliar headache — especially with fever, weakness, confusion, vision loss, or after a head injury — seek emergency care immediately. See our Medical Disclaimer.
